All four indoor hardcourt playing surfaces at the Saskatoon Kinsmen / Henk Ruys Soccer Centre now have a sprung floor system that reduces player joint fatigue by 55-65%! We’d like to recognize the financial support of the Jack Adilman Fund and Connexus, as well as the countless volunteer hours of the soccer and volleyball communities. The floors have also been freshened up by re-taping court lines and replacing select tiles to enhance the colors and markings. The entire entrance to the building has been renovated to welcome our users with modern sliding doors, a new admissions office and kiosk. Renovations are also underway for new paint and flooring in the NorthRidge Lounge.
At the SaskTel Sports Centre, the artificial turf on the main indoor field was recently replaced and upgraded, and the sport court tiles on Cameco Field have been converted to turf as well. The response to the additional turf has been tremendous. Next steps at STSC are ventilation system upgrades in the coming weeks to help with the summer heat. We are also adding additional lights for the outdoor beach courts for the growing beach volleyball leagues.
We have recently introduced the opportunity for digital advertising at both facilities, adding to the inventory of marketing options for SSCI, our sponsors and the community. In addition, thanks to the generous support of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon, digital scheduling monitors have been added to both facilities to keep athletes and spectators informed of activities within the centres.
