CIRCLE DRIVE INCURS EVENING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Saskatoon at Work For Immediate Release: November 19, 2004
IS04-272 CIRCLE DRIVE INCURS EVENING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
The City of Saskatoon today announced that evening lane closures on Circle Drive between the Circle Drive bridge and Preston Avenue will be in effect as follows:
* Monday, November 22 - starting at 7:00pm, traffic in the westbound direction will be restricted to the median (inside) lane. * Tuesday, November 23 - starting at 7:00pm, traffic in the eastbound direction will be restricted to the median (inside).
The purpose of these lane restrictions is to complete the hardware installation for two virtual weigh-in-motion (WIM) systems. A virtual WIM system monitors vehicle weights and dimensions at full highway speeds. The system captures an image of overweight vehicles for further inspection, allowing compliant vehicles to proceed uninterrupted. The data collected from this system can also be used for asset management and truck route optimization programs to protect investment in the city\'s road infrastructure.
Weather permitting, each lane closure should last no longer than 6-7 hours.
Motorists are strongly advised that significant delays are expected - please plan an alternate route. Workers will be onsite throughout the night so motorists are asked to drive with extreme caution. Obey all construction and speed limit signage.
